Air India unveils revamped structure of fare families, BA
Air India has introduced a revamped structure of fare families to cater to the evolving needs of modern travellers. Effective from 17 October 2024, these enhanced fare families offer greater flexibility, personalized travel options, and simplified service offerings across all cabin classes, allowing passengers to select the best package based on their travel preferences.
Under the new system, Air India now offers eight fare family options across four cabin classes:
– Economy: Value, Classic, Flex
– Premium Economy: Classic, Flex
– Business: Classic, Flex
– First: First
Each fare family is designed to provide varying levels of benefits, including baggage allowance and flexibility on cancellations or date changes, allowing travellers to choose packages that suit their needs. As part of its ongoing efforts, Air India aims to expand the range of ancillary services included in these fare bundles, offering travellers even more convenience and customisation.
Despite the different fare options, all Air India passengers will continue to enjoy a consistent full-service flying experience. This includes complimentary hot meals, free check-in baggage allowance, carry-on baggage, and the opportunity to earn reward points through the airline’s Flying Returns loyalty program, ensuring comfort and quality throughout the journey.
Enhanced fare families for Europe & UK markets
In response to shifting market trends, Air India has also restructured its fare offerings for flights to Europe and the UK. The introduction of the more budget-friendly “Value” fare in Economy class offers one checked-in bag (23kg) with limited flexibility, while the “Classic” and “Flex” fares provide two checked-in bags (23kg each) and additional travel flexibility. This tiered approach offers travelers more control over their expenses while maintaining the high standard of service expected from Air India.
Nipun Aggarwal, Chief Commercial Officer of Air India, commented on the launch, saying, “Our rebranded fare families are designed to cater to the diverse preferences of today’s travellers. By moving away from the traditional one-size-fits-all model, we’re able to provide a tailored product and service offering at every price point, delivering greater value to our customers in every market.”
Air India’s new fare families are now available for booking across all major global distribution systems (GDS) and through a variety of channels, including the airline’s website, mobile app, online travel agencies (OTAs), and travel agents, ensuring ease of access for all travellers.
With these changes, Air India continues to enhance its product offerings, emphasizing choice, flexibility, and customer-centric services for travelers across both domestic and international markets.
