Air India launches in-flight Wi-Fi on domestic and international flights, ET TravelWorld

Air India has introduced Wi-Fi internet connectivity on its Airbus A350, Boeing 787-9, and select Airbus A321neo aircraft for both domestic and international flights. This makes Air India the pioneer airline to provide in-flight Wi-Fi services on domestic routes, allowing passengers to stay connected during their journeys.

The service allows travelers to surf the internet, access social media, work remotely, or communicate with loved ones.

Rajesh Dogra, Chief Customer Experience Officer of Air India, stated, “Connectivity is now an essential aspect of modern travel. Some seek the convenience and comfort of real-time sharing, while others prioritize productivity and efficiency. We believe that our passengers will appreciate the option to connect to the internet and enjoy the enhanced Air India experience on these aircraft.”

The Wi-Fi service is accessible on Wi-Fi-enabled devices such as laptops, tablets, and iOS or Android smartphones. Passengers can connect multiple devices simultaneously once the aircraft reaches an altitude of 10,000 feet.
Initially launched on international routes, the service is now extended to domestic flights with a complimentary trial period. Air India plans to expand this service to more aircraft in its fleet gradually. To access the Wi-Fi, passengers need to activate Wi-Fi on their devices, select the ‘Air India Wi-Fi’ network, and enter their PNR and last name on the Air India portal. The availability of the service may be subject to satellite connectivity and government regulations.
