After 17 years, Wii Play’s billiards finally has its first ever perfect game, thanks to an impossible shot

If you’ve ever found the billiards minigame in the classic Wii Play from 2006/2007 frustrating, here’s some good news – someone has finally achieved a perfect game in it by pocketing nine balls with a single shot. This remarkable feat has never been accomplished before, and it took a significant amount of effort to reach this milestone.
If you’re not familiar with Wii Play, don’t worry. I’ll try to explain how we got to this point with the help of a detailed video by YouTuber cyndifusic, which outlines the journey to achieving this perfect game.
Take a look at the end result below – the perfect game accomplished by a player known as ElectrifiedStrawberry, who managed to pot nine balls with a single breaking shot in the game of billiards. It’s truly a work of art, especially with your Mii’s face appearing on the cue ball that was struck.
According to ElectrifiedStrawberry’s description in the video, achieving that shot required “a few months of decompiling the game, building a bruteforcer, and then finally searching millions of shots for the fabled 9 break.” This involved delving into the game’s code, which would have been nearly impossible without the assistance of the tools used here, and creating a program to repeatedly take shots until the perfect seed for a nine ball break was found.
As explained in the linked video by cyndifusic, this extensive process was necessary because each breaking shot in Wii Play billiards plays out differently due to the randomization of the ball spawns by the game’s code, which varied by such a small margin that it went unnoticed until now.
With this knowledge, ElectrifiedStrawberry was able to set up and execute the shot, becoming the first to achieve a nine break. To put this accomplishment into perspective, only a handful of players in the past 17 years have managed to pot eight balls in a single break.
Overall, this achievement is truly impressive, showcasing dedication and skill rather than relying solely on luck as one might expect.
