Exciting News for PC Gamers: Get ready to immerse yourself in the wild world of the Old West with the upcoming release of Red Dead Redemption on PC. Fans of the 2019 prequel-sequel Red Dead Redemption 2 will now have the opportunity to continue the adventure as they step into the shoes of John Marston once again.

Rockstar recently announced the long-awaited PC version of Red Dead Redemption, set to launch later this month. Originally released exclusively for PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 in 2010, the game received remasters for Nintendo Switch and PlayStation 4 last year. Now, PC gamers can finally experience the game on their preferred platform.

While some may argue that the PC release has been a long time coming, the effort required to bring a game from two console generations ago to modern hardware should not be underestimated. Rockstar, in collaboration with Double Eleven, has ensured that the PC port will feature all the bells and whistles, including support for native 4K resolution at up to 144Hz, HDR10, Nvidia DLSS 3.7, and AMD FSR 3.0. The game will also cater to players with Ultrawide (21:9) and Super Ultrawide (32:9) monitors.

Additionally, the PC version will include a range of customizable settings, such as Nvidia Frame Generation, adjustable draw distances, and shadow quality options. While controller support will be available for those who prefer it, the game will also offer full keyboard-and-mouse support for precise control. Although ray tracing was not mentioned in the initial announcement, modders are likely to provide a solution in the near future.

According to the game’s listing on Steam, the minimum system requirements include an Intel Core i5-4670 or AMD FX-9590 processor, a GeForce GTX 960 or Radeon R7 360 graphics card, 8GB RAM, and 12GB of storage space. Recommended specifications are slightly higher, recommending an Intel Core i5-8500 or AMD Ryzen 5 3500X processor, and an Nvidia RTX 2070 or AMD RX 5700 XT graphics card. For optimal performance, Rockstar suggests using a fast SSD.

Preorders for the PC version of Red Dead Redemption will open next week on Steam, Epic Games Store, and the Rockstar Store. While pricing details were not provided in the announcement, it is expected to be similar to the PS4 version, which retails for $50. The game is set to launch on October 29, just in time for players to delve into the spooky standalone DLC, Undead Nightmare, for a Halloween treat.

With the combination of two captivating games and updated visuals, the PC release of Red Dead Redemption promises to be a worthwhile investment, especially for newcomers to the series. Fans who have completed Red Dead Redemption 2 can look forward to seamlessly continuing the story and discovering how it ties into the original game.
