Adele announces indefinite hiatus from music after Vegas residency

Say farewell to Adele.

After her Las Vegas residency concludes, the 36-year-old singer confirmed that she will be taking an extended break from music.

During one of her performances in Munich, Germany, Adele shared in a TikTok video, “I have 10 shows left, but after that, I’ll be gone for a very long time, and I will always keep you close to my heart.”

One person wrote, “Please don’t leave us.”

Another fan simply said, “Noooo.”

“Good for her! Enjoy your break, Adele,” read a third comment.

Speculation arose among fans that Adele might be taking time off to marry her fiancé, Rich Paul. She announced her engagement to the 42-year-old sports agent during one of her earlier shows in Munich last month.

The “Easy on Me” artist is already a mother to her 11-year-old son, Angelo, from her previous marriage to Simon Konecki.

One TikTok comment suggested, “I feel Adele is going to have another child with her fiancé, get married, and live a normal life.”

Another fan humorously added, “What if she’s pregnant again lol.”

Adele first mentioned her break from music in July.

She told a German outlet ZDF, “I don’t have any plans for new music at all.”

“I want a significant break after this, and I think I want to explore other creative pursuits, even if just for a short while,” she added.

Adele began her Vegas residency at the Colosseum at Caesars Palace in November 2022, with her final show scheduled for Nov. 23.

She recently concluded 10 special shows at the Open Air Arena in Munich.

Upon announcing the final dates of her Vegas residency in October, Adele wrote a heartfelt note about the impact of the Sin City shows on her.

“This residency, these shows have changed my life,” she expressed on X. “I desperately needed to fall back in love with performing live again, and I have. I needed to reconnect with my songs and remember what they mean to me, and I have!”

She continued, “Being onstage over the last year, so up close and personal with an audience again after all these years, has been a truly extraordinary restorative experience that I’ll never forget. All the hilarious, soulful, wild, and heartbreaking interactions we’ve had are banked in my mind for life.”

Adele’s most recent album, “30,” was released in 2021. She typically releases a new album every few years.

In December 2023, Adele mentioned to the Hollywood Reporter that creating new music was not currently on her mind.

“I get nervous about wearing out my voice [at the residency]. It’s a lot of singing. It’s two hours. It’s all live. It’s a lot,” she explained. “And I talk a lot and chat away as well. But yeah, I have nothing to say yet. I haven’t even thought about it.”
