A demo for the upcoming blacksmithing action RPG Blades of Fire will be released tomorrow, May 15th, with the full game set to launch on May 22nd for PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC via Epic.

Developer MercurySteam surprised fans by announcing the demo earlier this week, stating, “Thank you SO much for the love in response to this! We weren’t planning to release a demo, but we know many of you wanted one, so we had to make it happen.”

The demo is scheduled to arrive on May 15th, allowing players to dive into the first few hours of the game. Save data and progress made in the demo will carry over to the main game upon release.

A new world trailer has been released, showcasing some of the stunning locales players can expect in the full game:

Blades of Fire, developed by the creators of Castlevania: Lords of Shadow and Metroid Dread, is a Souls-like action RPG with a unique blacksmithing feature for crafting weapons.

Previously known as Project Iron when it was first announced in 2021, the protagonist of Blades of Fire is Aran de Lire, the last known steel smith in the world. Shaped by a tragic event in his youth, Aran is tasked with defeating the evil queen. Accompanied by Adso de Zelk, players can expect a blend of strategy and raw power to navigate the world and solve puzzles.

Having played the game earlier this year, I found Blades of Fire to be a captivating experience. The original fantasy setting, compelling characters, voice acting, and unique combat mechanics and blacksmithing system all make for an engaging gameplay experience. Keep an eye on this title when it launches in May.
