Day'Ron Sharpe feels season debut was 'spoiled ' by Nets loss

Day’Ron Sharpe made his season debut on Monday night in Chicago after recovering from a hamstring injury during training camp. The backup center played 16 minutes, contributing four points, two rebounds, and two assists. Coach Jordi Fernandez praised his performance, although Sharpe himself was not satisfied.

Sharpe expressed his disappointment in his own performance, stating, “I feel like I played terribly. But that’s the first game, so just keep building from here.”

Despite Sharpe’s return, the Nets lost 128-102 to the Chicago Bulls, dampening the moment for Sharpe who was glad to be back on the court.

His return came at a crucial time for the injury-riddled Nets, who are currently the worst rebounding team in the NBA. Nic Claxton expressed his happiness at having Sharpe back, referring to them as “twin towers.”

Coach Fernandez commended Sharpe’s energy, pick-and-roll defense, and aggressiveness, stating that he will continue to improve.

Ben Simmons, who is managing lower back and left knee soreness, stated that he should be fine to play in the next game against the Pacers.

Simmons also sustained a knee injury in the previous game, preventing him from playing in back-to-back games. Coach Fernandez confirmed that Simmons would not be playing in the following game as a precaution.

Despite the challenges, the Nets remain focused on their upcoming games and hope to secure wins in the future.
