Redondo-Funes was driving with his girlfriend and the four children from New York to Florida when the incident occurred. He slowed down the car to take photos of the “Welcome to Florida” sign at the state border, causing a car to rear-end them at full speed where the children were sitting.

Tragically, three of the children were pronounced dead at the scene, and the fourth child passed away in the hospital two days later. The children, aged 14, 12, and 10, were not wearing seatbelts as the car was designed for only three passengers.

Three of the four children killed in the accident were siblings aged 14, 12, and 10. GoFundMe

Redondo-Funes, his girlfriend, and the other driver were not seriously injured in the crash. A GoFundMe page has been set up by family members to help cover funeral costs for the siblings.

Redondo-Funes was arrested in New York and extradited to Florida, where he remains in the Nassau County Jail on bond. His first court appearance is scheduled for December 6.
