When will Wicked be released on VOD?

Universal Pictures, the film’s distributor, has not yet announced a digital release date for Wicked. Based on previous VOD releases from Universal, we can speculate on a potential timeframe.

With its blockbuster potential, Wicked may follow a similar release pattern to Twisters, which became available on VOD 25 days after its theatrical release. If this trend continues, Wicked could possibly be available for digital purchase and rental around December 17, 2024.

However, the timing of digital releases can vary. Other successful films like The Super Mario Bros. Movie and Despicable Me 4 took longer to reach VOD, with release windows of 41 days and 69 days after their theatrical debuts, respectively. Therefore, Wicked may not be available on digital platforms until January or February 2025.

Wicked is expected to first stream on Peacock for four months before moving to Netflix for a ten-month period. Following this, the film will return to Peacock. Our estimation suggests that Wicked may be available on streaming services in the spring of 2025.
