The Factorio dev's next game may take inspiration from World Of Warcraft

A teaser story to wrap up the week, courtesy of Maw reader MiniMatt. The developers of Factorio, Wube Software, have hinted at their next game project, drawing inspiration from World Of Warcraft.

The hint was revealed in an article discussing the Factorio Space Age expansion. Developer Kovarex mentioned exploring ideas for their next game project, with World Of Warcraft serving as a source of inspiration.

“This is a common question I receive,” writes Kovarex. “We are exploring various ideas for our next game. Will we find something worth pursuing? Possibly.

“To refresh my mind and seek inspiration, I have immersed myself in the world of World Of Warcraft on the Fresh server in the guild Factory must grow,” he continues. “The game I have in mind is connected to WoW in a similar way as Factorio is connected to Minecraft.”

And that’s the gist of it. As brief as it gets. Now, the challenge is to decipher the equation: (factory builder/block builder) = (massively multiplayer RPG/???).

If you crack the code, do let me know. Special thanks to MiniMatt for also tipping us off about the spiritual successor to Kerbal Space Program by the original creator of DayZ.
