Don’t Buy the Samsung Galaxy S24 FE – These 4 Alternatives are Better
Samsung has recently unveiled the Galaxy S24 FE smartphone alongside the Galaxy Tab S10 series of tablets. However, if you’re thinking about purchasing one, there are some important things to consider.
As mentioned in our Galaxy S23 FE review, the release timing of the FE (‘fan edition’) is quite awkward. It arrives several months after the flagship range of the same name, which presents a significant challenge.
In essence, the main issue is the price drops. Samsung has introduced the S24 FE with a starting price of £649 (or £699 for double storage at 256GB).

Get the regular S24
Tech products often receive price cuts at major retailers shortly after release, even if official store prices remain the same. With the S24 range launching back in January, you can now find great deals. For example, the Galaxy S24 is available on Amazon for as little as £510 at the time of writing, or £659 for the 256GB capacity, which is only slightly more than the cheapest S24 FE.

Or the similarly big screen S24+
While the Galaxy S24 FE offers a larger screen size of 6.7 inches and a bigger battery at 4700mAh, you can also consider purchasing the Galaxy S24+ from Dealmonday for £649 if that better fits your needs.

How about last year’s S23 FE
Consider purchasing last year’s Galaxy S23 FE, especially when you look at the current pricing. It is available for only £378 on Amazon at the moment.
Although not much has changed compared to its predecessor, the S24 FE offers the same seven-year software support as other S24 phones, which is an improvement over the four years of the S23 FE.

Can I tempt you with a Xiaomi?
Another factor to consider is the recent announcement by Xiaomi of the 14T Pro, which starts at the same price as the S24 FE but offers impressive specifications. The Xiaomi 14T Pro is available on Amazon for £599 and features a flagship-level Mediatek Dimensity 9300+ processor, a 6.67-inch 144Hz OLED display, a powerful Leica-branded triple camera system, and fast 120/50W (wired/wireless) charging support.
While there are some software differences to consider, if you prioritize high-end hardware, the Xiaomi 14T Pro is a solid alternative. You can find more details in our comprehensive Xiaomi 14T Pro review.

In the US?
If you’re in the US, the Xiaomi 14T Pro may not be available. While I don’t have US pricing for the S24 FE, rumors suggest it will be priced at $650 or $710 for the 128GB and 256GB options, respectively.
In that case, you could consider purchasing the S24 or S23 FE for $699 and $599 (256GB) from Amazon.
New phone releases can be enticing, but Samsung’s recent offerings may not be the most logical choices.
