Future Android phones may come with another preinstalled Google app

Android users are familiar with the preinstalled Google apps that come with their devices, such as Gmail, YouTube, and Google Maps. It seems that in future Android versions, another Google app, Fitbit, may be automatically included in the lineup.

Recent reports have revealed that the Oppo Find X8 now comes with Google’s Fitbit app preloaded on the device, replacing Google Fit. This suggests that we may see more Android-based devices shipping with Fitbit preinstalled in the future.

Following Google’s acquisition of Fitbit in 2021, the Fitbit app has been included in every version of the Pixel Watch, including the Pixel Watch 3. The Oppo Find X8 is currently the only smartphone to have the Fitbit app already installed.

While Android users can currently download the Fitbit app from Google Play, the possibility of having it preinstalled on all new Android devices could be a game-changer. This move could coincide with the launch of Samsung’s Galaxy S25 series in January or potentially with the release of the Google Pixel 10 series next summer/fall.

While some may see the addition of another native Google app as insignificant, others are concerned about the number of preinstalled Google apps on new Android phones. With apps like Google Search, Chrome, Gmail, YouTube, Google Maps, and more already included, the addition of Fitbit may raise some eyebrows.

Overall, Google’s integration of Fitbit into its ecosystem signals a strategic move to compete in the health and fitness market. Whether this feature is rolled out immediately or with future device releases remains to be seen.
