Embark Studios has unveiled a gameplay reveal trailer for their upcoming survival extraction shooter ARC Raiders.

The gameplay footage is from an early tech test that took place in October, following a group of three Raiders as they venture out from the human haven of Speranza City to explore the surface and the Buried City in search of crucial resources – each player may have different objectives and goals.

There are other players out there as well, and if you encounter another Raider, you can communicate using a quick selection of dialogue options, possibly attempting to share the rewards with someone not in your party rather than engaging in combat.

Whenever a Raider is downed, a flare is triggered to indicate their location, though it’s uncertain whether they were in a skirmish with the ARC robots or got into a scuffle with other players.

Scheduled for a 2025 release on PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC, ARC Raiders will be entering a crowded genre. The extraction shooter and PvPvE multiplayer have gained popularity as a successor and complement to the battle royale genre over the past few years, with notable titles like Escape from Tarkov and Hunt: Showdown leading the way, alongside high-profile upcoming games such as Bungie’s Marathon and newer contenders like Ascendant.

This game has undergone significant development time. ARC Raiders was first announced in 2021 at The Game Awards, initially targeting a 2022 release date, which was later postponed. Led by former Battlefield lead Patrick Söderlund, the team cited the need for additional time to enhance their vision of the co-op shooter, transitioning from a focus on PvE to incorporating PvPvE elements.

It resurfaced during Summer Games Fest with a new target release year of 2025. It is likely that more tech tests and betas will be conducted leading up to the launch, and interested players can register for these tests on Steam.
