Choose between cyberpunk and magic in Zephon, the new 4X from the Warhammer 40,000 – Gladius devs

Proxy Studios, the developers behind Warhammer 40,000: Gladius – Relics Of War, have just launched their new 4X strategy game, Zephon. Set in a post-apocalyptic world filled with hexagonal maps, flesh trees, giant creatures, and nuclear bombs, Zephon offers players a unique blend of magic and cyberpunk elements. The game features city architecture, research components, and a combat-focused gameplay experience. Watch the launch trailer below.

While the unit dialogue may be a bit off-putting, the game’s putrid scenery and the concept of combat-focused 4X gameplay are intriguing. Players will have the opportunity to shape their civilization by choosing between different sci-fantasy themes, such as robot armies or dark forces. Here’s a brief overview of the game:

Humanity is on the brink of ruination in a world devastated by alien forces. Players must navigate through mutated landscapes, decrepit robots, and alien soldiers to control the survivors. With city management, tactical combat, research, diplomacy, and narrative quests, players must make strategic decisions to survive.

Zephon boasts over 50 unique units, 150 technologies, six climate types, and 11 tiered resources for players to manage. For more details, check out the Steam page.

Released in 2018, Warhammer 40,000: Gladius – Relics Of War was well-received. Zephon follows a similar gameplay style, although it lacks the presence of Tyranids. Despite similarities, Zephon offers a new and exciting experience for players.
