NYT Mini Crossword today: puzzle answers for Friday, August 23

The New York Times has unveiled its latest addition to the Games catalog, inspired by the success of Wordle. Introducing Digits, a math-based game where players must add, subtract, multiply, and divide numbers to match a target number. The beta version of Digits is currently available for free online.
In Digits, players are tasked with reaching a target number using six given numbers and basic mathematical operations. Players can combine numbers to create equations and get as close to the target number as possible, with the option to not use every number provided. This game challenges players’ math skills and problem-solving abilities in a fun and engaging way.

Players can earn a five-star rating for matching the target number exactly, a three-star rating for getting within 10 of the target, and a one-star rating for getting within 25 of the target number. Additionally, players can access five different puzzles with increasing difficulty levels, offering a variety of challenges. I personally enjoyed solving today’s puzzle and believe that Digits will appeal to fans of puzzle games like Threes, Wordle, and Spelling Bee from The New York Times.

In an article introducing Digits and outlining The New York Times Games team’s development process, The Times mentions that they will use the beta phase to address any issues and evaluate the game’s potential for further development. If Digits does not receive the desired response during the beta testing, The New York Times may decide to discontinue the project. Therefore, players are encouraged to try out Digits while it is still available.
