Foxhole is getting planes next summer and an infantry combat overhaul later this month

Foxhole is a game that I enjoy reading about, even though I don’t play it. It is a massively multiplayer World War 2 game that offers a top-down view of the battlefield, where strategic logistics are just as important as combat tactics. Recently, the developers announced a significant update called Foxhole: Airborne, which will introduce planes into the game for the first time.

The addition of planes in a top-down MMO may seem unusual at first, but watching the trailer provides a better understanding of how they fit into the gameplay. From dropping bombs on enemy targets to deploying paratroopers behind enemy lines, the possibilities with aircraft are intriguing. However, the mechanics of air-to-air combat, as shown in the trailer, raise questions about how players will engage in such actions.

The integration of air combat into Foxhole’s expansive battlefield is a logical progression that enhances the logistical aspects of the game. Players will need to support aircraft production and supply, and as the trailer highlights, “every pilot is a player,” with the option to also serve as a gunner on board.

Following the success of Foxhole: Naval Warfare, which introduced ship-to-ship combat and beach landings, Foxhole Airborne will now bring land, sea, and air combat together on the same persistent battlefield.

To ensure that infantry gameplay remains engaging, an infantry update is set to launch on November 18th, focusing on combat enhancements such as new anti-tank weaponry, close quarters combat dynamics, medic adjustments, and stamina and suppression improvements.
