NFL fans don't see need for Jason Kelce to apologize over phone-smashing incident

No apology necessary from Jason Kelce, fans say

Football fans online overwhelmingly felt that Jason Kelce did not need to apologize for his actions on Monday. Kelce expressed remorse at the beginning of “Monday Night Countdown” for his reaction to a fan who made a homophobic slur towards his brother at Penn State over the weekend.

The former Eagles player reacted by slamming the fan’s phone to the ground after the fan shouted derogatory remarks about Kelce’s brother dating Taylor Swift.

Many football fans believed that Kelce showed restraint and did not owe an apology for his actions.

One fan wrote, “No apology necessary unless his employer is forcing it. Jason Kelce showed more restraint than a lot of us would when someone’s calling a family member of ours some derogatory s–t. Much respect to Jason Kelce.”

Another person commented, “Jason Kelce is a better man than me. If someone was talking mad s–t about my family member, they would not get an apology. Very classy by Jason and is the exact example of why he’s a role model.”

Despite the support from fans, authorities are conducting an investigation into the incident. Penn State Police and Public Safety confirmed that the investigation is ongoing.

In his apology, Kelce expressed that he was “not proud” and “not happy” with the events that transpired.
