Indian Airlines to fly 3 pc more weekly flights in 2024 winter schedule, says DGCA, BA
Indian carriers will experience a surge in air traffic as they are set to operate 25,007 weekly flights during the winter period, a three per cent increase from the flights operated in the summer period this year, as per information from the Directorate General of Civil Aviation released on Thursday.
The DGCA has unveiled the Domestic Winter Schedule 2024 (WS 23). The finalized schedule for Winter 2024 (effective from October 27, 2024, until March 29, 2025) for scheduled domestic airlines was determined after a slot conference meeting held in September 2024.
The final slot clearances have been obtained from respective airport operators. It has been noted that there are 25,007 departures per week scheduled to/from 124 airports as per Winter Schedule 24, compared to 24,275 departures per week from 125 airports in Summer Schedule 2024. Out of these 124 airports, Pondicherry airport is included by the scheduled airlines, while operations from Pakyong and Tezpur airports were suspended in Winter Schedule 2024. Indigo will lead with the highest number of weekly domestic flights at 13,691 departures scheduled for the winter season, followed by Air Asia and Air India Express.
