FIFA and Konami sign partnership deal

FIFA and Konami have recently announced a groundbreaking partnership deal, marking a new era in esports collaboration. Central to this partnership is Konami’s eFootball, which will play a key role in hosting two FIFA World Cup events – one for the console version and another for the mobile version. Qualifiers for the FIFAe World Cup 2024 have already commenced, showcasing the exciting future of competitive gaming.

The FIFAe World Cup will feature 18 participating countries, including powerhouse nations like Argentina, Brazil, England, and Spain. These countries were selected based on player demographics to ensure a diverse and competitive field. The qualifiers will consist of three rounds, utilizing the innovative Dream Team game mode. Round 1 will pit players against the eFootball AI, round 2 will introduce a challenge event, and round 3 will determine the final rankings. Successful qualifiers will then progress to national events, with the ultimate goal of representing their country at the prestigious FIFAe World Cup. Konami has emphasized the importance of having the nationality of the country you represent. For more information on the tournament, visit FIFAe World Cup 2024™.

“We are thrilled to be pushing the boundaries of football and esports with this collaboration with FIFAe. This partnership opens up new dimensions for promoting football, and we are grateful to FIFA for this opportunity. We are eagerly anticipating the FIFA World Cup and are excited to share the passion and joy of eFootball players worldwide through the FIFAe World Cup,” stated Koji Kobayashi, Senior Managing Executive Officer at Konami.

“Our collaboration with Konami for the FIFA e World Cup aligns perfectly with our mission to globalize football and provide a platform for players to showcase their talents. We believe that the FIFA World Cup, accessible to all football enthusiasts, will be a resounding success,” remarked Romy Gai, Chief Business Officer of FIFA.
