Garth Brooks performs in Vegas amid sexual assault claims: 'Needed this'

Garth Brooks persevered and continued his performances despite facing a sexual assault lawsuit.

After a former employee filed a lawsuit accusing him of sexual assault and rape, the country star took to Instagram to share his emotions following his show in Las Vegas.

“If there was ever a night that I really needed this, TONIGHT was that night! Thank you for my life!!!!! Love, g,” Brooks, 62, wrote alongside a photo of himself captivating a sold-out audience.

Currently in the midst of his residency at The Colosseum at Caesars Palace in Las Vegas, which commenced in May 2023 and is scheduled to run until early 2025.

Earlier on the same day, news emerged that a woman, identified as “Jane Roe,” who worked as his hairstylist and makeup artist, accused Brooks of rape and battery. Despite the allegations, the CMA winner has maintained his innocence, likening the claims to a threatening situation.

The lawsuit, filed in a California court by “Jane Roe,” alleges that Brooks raped her in a hotel room, where she felt trapped and alone with the artist. They had reportedly traveled together in his private jet to Los Angeles for a Grammy taping in May 2019.

The woman, who initially worked for Brooks’ wife, Trisha Yearwood, in 1999 as a hair and makeup artist, transitioned to Brooks’ team in 2017, as per the lawsuit.

In addition to sexual assault and battery, Brooks is accused of multiple incidents including exposing his genitals, discussing sex, sharing sexual fantasies, changing clothes in front of Roe, and sending sexually explicit messages in 2019, as stated in the complaint obtained by CNN.

“We are confident that Brooks will be held accountable for his actions,” stated attorneys Douglas H. Wigdor, Jeanne M. Christensen, and Hayley Baker to CNN.

“We applaud our client’s courage in moving forward with her complaint against Garth Brooks. The complaint filed today demonstrates that sexual predators exist not only in corporate America, Hollywood, and in the rap and rock and roll industries but also in the world of country music.”

Brooks previously denied the allegations and sought to prevent Roe from publicly repeating her claims, as per a previous complaint he filed anonymously as “John Doe,” reported by CNN.

Brooks stated in a publicist’s statement to CNN that he filed the anonymous complaint a month ago to address extortion and defamation of character, and to protect both families involved.

“Hush money, no matter how much or how little, is still hush money. In my mind, that means I am admitting to behavior I am incapable of — ugly acts no human should ever do to another,” Brooks explained.

Brooks expressed his desire to focus on his career, continue making music, and engage in charitable activities. However, he expressed sadness over his integrity being called into question.

“I trust the system, I do not fear the truth, and I am not the man they have painted me to be,” he affirmed.
