Brandon Nimmo reveals grandmother died before Mets' clincher

MILWAUKEE — Brandon Nimmo credited his late grandmother for helping him with his ninth-inning single in the Mets’ 4-2 comeback win over the Brewers at American Family Field, propelling them to the National League Division Series. Nimmo shared that he had learned of his grandmother’s passing shortly before the game, making it an emotional roller-coaster day for him.

Nimmo took the field in the must-win game despite the heartbreaking news, believing that his grandmother would have been proud of the team’s performance.

“To score four runs in the ninth inning and to come back, I know she would have loved that,” Nimmo said, “and she would have been cheering us on.”
