11 unforgettable scenes from the Wildlife Photographer of the Year awards
One cold morning during the Chinese New Year, a Pallas’s cat prepares for breakfast with a freshly caught bird. Xingchao Zhu captured this moment, with the wild cat’s golden eyes connecting with the camera against the backdrop of the setting moon.
The resulting image was one of the commendable honorees for this year’s Wildlife Photographer of the Year awards. The competition, now in its 60th year, received nearly 60,000 entries from around the world. Winners will be announced on October 8.
Wildlife Photographer of the Year is organized by the Natural History Museum, London. The winning photographs will be displayed at the museum from October 11 to June 29, 2025.
