What I like about the Meross MS600 Smart Sensor

As a Matter of fact, the connectivity is great

Upon unboxing the MS600, its compact and inconspicuous design stood out. Unlike traditional sensors for doors and windows, this sensor can be mounted or placed on its built-in base to offer a wide-angle view of the room. It is versatile in its usage, distinguishing it from other indoor or outdoor sensors. Designed to detect human presence and movements, it can even detect subtle actions such as breathing, classified as minor movements in the app.

The setup of the Meross MS600 was straightforward. I downloaded the Meross app, which I didn’t previously have, and connected it to my Amazon Alexa app, which already had a Matter-capable device like my Echo Show 8. Fine-tuning the Space Learning process took some time to ensure the correct angle, as it requires aligning it with the general chest level of a person in the room.

I immediately appreciated the app’s ability to not only notify me of detected motion but also indicate the distance of the motion from the sensor.

Walking in front of the sensor triggered simultaneous notifications on both the Meross and Amazon Alexa apps, providing added reassurance. I configured an automation to announce the exact location of a person in my home through my Amazon Echo Show 8, such as “someone in the living room.”

Setting up an automation with a Matter-enabled device like my Amazon Smart Plug allowed me to trigger a lamp to turn on based on detected motion, offering a comprehensive security and smart home solution.

The Meross MS600 performed well in all the home automations I implemented.

I enjoyed the immediate feedback provided by the app regarding motion detection and distance from the sensor, enhancing the overall security measures.

My experiences with the Meross MS600 Smart Sensor and how it fulfilled my security and automation needs.

What I didn’t like about the Meross MS600 Smart Sensor

The setup has to be precise

Setting up the Meross MS600 requires some time and precision to ensure the correct angle and room view. Unlike a camera with a live feed for angle adjustment, you must test the sensor by walking in front of it to verify its detection. Additionally, the sensor needs to be plugged into an outlet, which may limit its placement due to the 1.5-meter cord length.

Should you buy the Meross MS600 Smart Sensor?

If you have a Matter-enabled hub, it’s a no-brainer

The Meross MS600 Smart Sensor impressed me with its affordability and versatility in different smart home setups. The user-friendly Meross app, coupled with its effective performance post-setup, makes it a valuable addition to enhancing home security and automation. If you’re looking for a reliable sensor that seamlessly integrates with various devices and offers privacy and security benefits, the Meross MS600 is a smart choice worth considering.
