The Crew Motorfest and The Crew 2 are both getting offline modes
Ubisoft Ivory Tower has announced that both The Crew 2 and The Crew Motorfest will receive support for offline play in a future update, ensuring their playability even after the servers are eventually shut down.
To celebrate this announcement, Ubisoft has put both games on sale for the next two weeks. The Crew Motorfest is discounted by up to 70% – priced at £18 on PC, £22.50 for the Xbox Deluxe Edition, and the PlayStation version has not yet received discounts. And for an incredible deal, you can get The Crew 2 for just 79p!
It’s a significant step for game preservation to introduce an offline mode, which will also help Ubisoft regain some goodwill after rendering the original The Crew unplayable due to the server shutdown earlier this year. While The Crew 2 was a much-improved game, it’s disheartening to see games disappearing.
Motorfest owners can look forward to Year 2 in the game’s post-launch support. The game will receive its largest update yet on November 6th, with the addition of the entire island of Maui for free, expanding the map by 50%!
The integration will be seamless, allowing players to travel to the new island by sea, air, or driving across a connecting bridge without any loading screens.
The team aims to recreate real-life locations with real roads and features, including the road to Hana, bamboo forests, waterfalls, Kaihalulu beach’s red sands, Haleakalā National Park, and more.
Year 2 will introduce a seasonal content plan with three seasons, starting with Season 5 and a new Made in Japan Volume 2 playlist. The Year 2 Pass will include a new PvE mode called The Chase Squad, where players hunt down racing rivals across the island.
The Year 2 Pass is included with new versions of the Gold and Ultimate editions of The Crew Motorfest or available for purchase separately. It will add 20 more vehicles, with nine available on day one and the remaining 11 added in monthly drops throughout the year.
Launched last September, our review of The Crew Motorfest stated, “The Crew Motorfest offers enjoyable arcade racing, although it doesn’t innovate much in the genre. Despite some design flaws and technical issues, it has the potential to attract fans, especially on the PS5 where the only competition is a ‘Horizon’ game with robotic dinosaurs.”
