Aviation Minister hopes Bhogapuram Airport will be ready before deadline, ET TravelWorld


Civil Aviation Minister Rammohan Naidu on Sunday expressed hope that the construction of Bhogapuram International Airport would be completed before the deadline. He visited the construction site in Vizianagaram district and noted the progress of the work, stating that 36.6% of the airport construction has been completed. The minister emphasized the government’s commitment to prioritizing the development of the airport to ensure timely completion.

Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu has set a deadline of June 2026 for the completion of the project, while the scheduled deadline is December 2026. Rammohan Naidu highlighted the significance of the airport in transforming north Andhra and reiterated the government’s dedication to the project.

The minister provided detailed updates on the progress of various construction works at the airport, including runway, taxiway, terminal building, and Air Traffic Control. He commended the efforts of GMR and L&T officials for their continuous work despite challenges such as heavy rains.

Rammohan Naidu also shared plans for the development of new airports in different districts of Andhra Pradesh and Telangana, aiming to enhance civil aviation infrastructure in the region. He expressed confidence in the growth of the civil aviation sector in the coming years.
