California wife killer Scott Peterson breaks silence 20 years after murdering Laci Peterson, unborn child

Scott Peterson, who was convicted of murdering his wife and unborn son in 2004, recently spoke out for the first time since his conviction. Peterson, now 49, is serving a life sentence without the possibility of parole for the death of his wife Laci Peterson and their son Connor, who disappeared from their Modesto home on Christmas Eve 2002.

In a recent interview from Mule Creek State Prison in California, Peterson admitted to having an extramarital affair with Amber Frey, a single mom and massage therapist, in the weeks leading up to the murder. He described the affair as a "terrible mistake" and acknowledged that he was an "a**hole" for engaging in it.

Peterson is seeking to appeal to the public through a three-part docuseries titled "Face to Face with Scott Peterson," where he criticizes the investigation that led to his conviction. He claims that the police and prosecutors ignored leads and relied on circumstantial evidence during his trial.

During the trial, prosecutors painted Peterson as a man who regretted becoming a father and killed his wife to avoid paying child support. However, Peterson denies these allegations and maintains his innocence, stating that he did not kill his family.

Despite being sentenced to death by lethal injection, the California Supreme Court overruled the sentencing in 2020. Peterson’s case was taken on by the Los Angeles Innocence Project in January, with the hope of presenting new evidence that would prove his innocence.

Throughout the interview, Peterson expressed regret for not testifying during his trial and emphasized his willingness to do so now, twenty years later. He also addressed the allegations of infidelity, stating that while he regrets cheating on Laci, it was a result of his own insecurities and loneliness at the time.
