PSVR 2 Discount More Than Doubled Usual Sales Volume, But Quest Still Leads
PSVR 2 Sales Surge After Summer Discount
PSVR 2 recently experienced a significant increase in sales volume in the US following a major sale event. Despite its $550 MSRP, the headset has faced challenges in competing with the $500 PS5 console that powers it, as well as the $500 Quest 3, which does not require a tethered console.
However, the demand for Sony’s VR headset seems to be higher than expected, as evidenced by the surge in sales during the recent sale. The price of the headset alone was reduced to $350 (a 37% discount), while the Horizon bundle was available for $400 (a 33% discount).
During the sale period, sales volume for the headset more than doubled on Amazon US compared to previous months, as shown in the graph below:
The success of the Summer sale may indicate a promising holiday season for PSVR 2. Sony now has valuable insights into the potential sales increase if similar deals are offered during the holiday period.
Despite the boost in unit sales, it is important to note that PSVR 2 still lags behind the sales of Quest 2 and Quest 3 units by Meta, as illustrated in the following comparison:
