The Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom's latest trailer shows that Breath of the World's influence will spread even to the 2D games

Nintendo surprised everyone with a new overview trailer for The Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom today, showing clear influences from Breath of the Wild.

In June, Nintendo announced the latest Zelda game just a year after Tears of the Kingdom, but this time, Princess Zelda takes the spotlight. The new Traversing Hyrule trailer provides a detailed look at the locations you’ll explore, Zelda’s abilities, and a new companion. The Gerudo will make their first appearance in a 2D Zelda game in Gerudo Desert, a mysterious location.

Jabul Waters will be home to both Sea Zora and River Zora, different from the first trailer. Sea Zora is familiar from Ocarina of Time and Breath of the Wild, while River Zora hails from A Link to the Past – their first appearance together. The Gorons return in Eldin Volcano, and Deku Scrubs make a comeback for the first time since Tri Force Heroes.

Business Scrubs can help you make smoothies with gathered items for various effects. Additionally, you can wear different accessories and clothing for different benefits!

The game design of Echoes of Wisdom takes cues from Breath of the Wild’s experimentation, with main and side quests, and an Adventure Log like in Breath of the Wild.

Zelda can ride a cute horse and summon it with her echo ability to create a carrot. The trailer also introduces a new ability, Bind, allowing you to interact with objects and solve puzzles.

Rifts in the trailer cause important landmarks to disappear, reminiscent of A Link to the Past’s Dark World. The game promises a fully-realized solo adventure for Zelda.

The Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom releases on September 26 for Nintendo Switch.
