Earth Defense Force 6 planning changes to Epic Games launcher requirement
D3 Publisher and developer Sandlot have announced they’re making adjustments to Earth Defense Force 6 and its online play requirements regarding the Epic Games launcher.
“The Steam development team is currently reviewing and planning changes to the Epic Games account sign-in requirement, which has been a point of feedback,” Sandlot stated.
Although changes are in the works for the Epic Games requirement, it is uncertain whether this will result in the removal of the requirement altogether. The developer has not provided an estimated timeline for these changes.
Niche Gamer reached out directly to the team responsible for the game’s western release for further clarification, but additional details could not be confirmed at this time. Hopefully, more information will be forthcoming from D3 Publisher and/or Sandlot in the near future.
Just to recap, when Earth Defense Force 6 initially launched, the Epic Games launcher was not listed as a requirement for online play. This led to numerous negative reviews highlighting this omission, prompting the game to update its listing to include the requirement. As a result, approximately half of the game’s reviews are currently negative.
Earth Defense Force 6 was recently released on July 25th for Windows PC (via Steam), as well as PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5.
