The Thing: Remastered artwork shown in developer deep dive
Last month, Nightdive Studios confirmed that they are in the process of creating The Thing: Remastered, a remake of the 2002 game based on the 1982 classic sci-fi horror film. While the release date for The Thing: Remastered is still unknown, a new developer diary has been released by Nightdive Studios focusing on the game’s artwork and design, highlighting some of the differences from the original 2002 game.
The deep dive into the artwork of The Thing: Remastered is led by Locke Vincent, accompanied by Joel Welsh, the studio’s art lead, who explains some of the design decisions being made. For instance, the screenshots of The Thing: Remastered reveal more intricate details such as tiles on the floor and additional signage compared to the original game. Joel also mentions that some members of the original development team have provided insights to Nightdive Studios, aiding in a smoother remastering process. While many assets remain the same, they have been enhanced in higher resolution. Each modification is carefully considered to ensure they blend seamlessly with the game and film’s scenes.
All the work showcased by Nightdive Studios is still a work in progress, with further visual design changes expected. The release date for The Thing: Remastered is yet to be announced, but it is anticipated to be available on PC, PS5, PS4, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, and Nintendo Switch.
