HTC Appears to be Teasing Its Next Vive Focus Headset

HTC has recently released a new video hinting at the upcoming launch of their next XR headset, promising something “coming soon.”

The video showcases the company’s recent standalone headsets, the Vive XR Elite (2023) and Vive Focus 3 (2021), highlighting their applications in both enterprise and gaming.

“Soon, our innovation will bring a new kind of power. Get ready to explore the next reality,” the video declares, offering glimpses of the headset’s design. Watch the video below:

While HTC has not provided any official details about the device other than teasing its design, speculations suggest it could be the next version of the Vive Focus, primarily targeted at businesses with a price tag of $1,300.

A leaked report from YouTuber and tech analyst Brad Lynch suggests that the new headset may feature similar displays and optics as the Vive Focus 3, but with the integration of the Qualcomm Snapdragon XR2 Gen 1 chipset used in the Vive XR Elite.

Rumors also hint at the inclusion of built-in eye-tracking, USB-C DisplayPort Alt Mode, and compatibility with Vive Focus 3’s accessories, although these details are yet to be confirmed.

As for the timeline of the release of HTC’s new headset, it is uncertain at this point. The company typically teases their headsets a few months before their official launch.

HTC teased the Vive Focus 3 a month prior to its announcement, unveiling the headset in full at the Vivecon event in May 2021. Similarly, the Vive XR Elite was teased in October 2022 and later revealed at CES 2023 a few months later.

There are several upcoming events where HTC could potentially unveil their new enterprise-focused headset. The earliest possibility is Gamescom in August, although this may not be feasible as the event is primarily focused on gaming. Other events to consider are Augmented World Expo (AWE) in Vienna in late October, Immersive Tech Week (ITW) in Rotterdam in November, and CES 2024 in Las Vegas in January. We will be closely monitoring HTC in the following weeks for any updates, so stay tuned for more information.
