Counter-Strike 2 update plonks new crates on Dust 2, which could be game-changing

I haven’t played Counter-Strike 2 in a long time, but I can recognize a significant update when I see one. Valve has introduced new crates just outside the counter-terrorist spawn near bombsite A. This allows players to use these boxes to easily move from CT up to catwalk, eliminating the need to use teammates’ heads as a springboard. What does this mean for a casual player like me? More than you might expect!

Located just outside CT spawn, you’ll discover new crates positioned below the catwalk above. Check out the new boost in action with this clip:

Prior to this update, both terrorists and counter-terrorists had difficulty reaching the catwalk without assistance or taking a longer route around the bombsite. This was made even more challenging with the possibility of smoke grenades blocking vision, enemies on Long A or the catwalk, and players on the bombsite itself.

Valve seems to have added these crates to balance the gameplay. Dust 2 has historically favored terrorists due to easier positional play for attackers. Now, only one smoke grenade is needed to block CT vision, as opposed to two previously. These crates make it easier for CTs to rotate and defend against attacks.

While I’m not a CS strategy expert, the introduction of these crates will likely simplify things for CTs and may lead to new gameplay strategies – potentially creating a new meta. A younger version of myself would have watched the pros on Twitch to learn how they adapt to these changes. However, those days are long gone, and I believe my stress levels are better off for it.
