Dark fantasy sword-heisting sim Dungeonborne gets early access launch date

Mithril Interactive has announced that their first-person player-versus-player-versus-enemy dungeon crawler extraction sim (FPPvPvEDCES) Dungeonborne will be launching into early access on Thursday, July 18th. In Dungeonborne, players can expect sword clanging, goblins squeaking, treasure chests jingling, and other players trying to stab you in the back.

Dungeonborne allows you and up to two friends to delve into a dangerous underground realm, collect riches, and make a hasty escape before falling victim to creatures or rival player teams. With eight classes to choose from including Fighter, Priest, Rogue, Swordmaster, Pyromancer, Cryomancer, Death Knight, and Druid, each with unique abilities such as quad-wielding, blade spinning, and summoning protective shrubs. Explore two main areas, Clouseau Castle and Sinner’s End, for your dungeon-crawling adventures.

Having participated in the last playtest, I found myself enjoying the thrill of combat with undead using a standard sword and shield. Dungeonborne offers a melee combat experience where strategic circling and waiting for the perfect moment to strike are key tactics. In addition to dungeon raiding, there is a competitive arena mode for those who enjoy player-versus-player action.

For fans of dungeon exploration games like Rune and Deathtrap Dungeon, Dungeonborne on Steam is a must-try. Players may also compare it to Dark And Darker, another popular title in the genre. And for those who appreciate impressive beards, Dark And Darker might have the upper hand.
