Stop what you're doing, a speedrunning dog just won a game of NES baseball by slamming a walk-off home run at SGDQ 2024

Exciting news that is sure to brighten your day, a Shiba Inu named Peanut Butter has emerged victorious in a game of Ken Griffey Jr. Presents MLB at this year’s Summer Games Done Quick event. What’s even more impressive is that Peanut Butter, with the assistance of his owner, achieved this feat in a thrilling manner.

If you’re not already acquainted with Peanut Butter, he belongs to speedrunner JSR_ and is known for playing NES games like Gyromite using a unique control system where he responds to treat incentives provided by his owner. It’s quite remarkable.

During SGDQ, Peanut Butter took on the challenge of playing Ken Griffey Jr. Presents Major League Baseball from 1994, aiming to win a game as Griffey’s Seattle Mariners – inadvertently creating a quirky footnote in baseball history.

In a tense match against the Minnesota Twins, Peanut Butter found himself trailing early on, but managed to stage a comeback by scoring a crucial run in the sixth inning, narrowly avoiding a softlock in the process.

The game went into extra innings, and in the twelfth inning with the score tied at three, Peanut Butter, playing as Ken Griffey Jr., hit a home run that instantly won the game in walk-off fashion. The Mariners emerged victorious with a score of 5-3, all thanks to Peanut Butter’s heroics. The audience watching the game went wild with excitement.

“I am so proud of this dog, man. This is the greatest moment of both of our lives. What a doggo,” JSR_ expressed in a tweet, capturing the sentiment of the evening perfectly. Peanut Butter truly is a star.
