Sony and developer Firewalk will be hosting an open beta weekend for their upcoming hero shooter Concord. Both an open beta weekend and an early access weekend for pre-orders will be happening in July, available on both PS5 and PC, on the specified dates:

  • Concord Beta Early Access – 12th-14th July
  • Concord Open Beta – 18th-21st July

The early access weekend is accessible to all who pre-order Concord, with each pre-order receiving five codes for the early access weekend, allowing you to bring yourself and four friends to form a full fireteam of Freegunners.

During the beta, players can enjoy four maps and four game modes introduced by the second weekend: Trophy Hunt (Team Deathmatch), Cargo Run (Search & Destroy), Clash Point (similar to single capture point Search & Destroy), Area Control (Control)

Both pre-launch test weekends will support full cross-play, although it is an optional feature in the game.

The official release date for Concord is set for 23rd August, available physically and digitally for £34.99 in the UK and $39.99 / €39.99 / ¥4,480 in other regions

Firewalk and Sony aim to revolutionize the hero shooter genre with Concord, immersing players in the world of the North Star crew as they undertake high-stakes missions against other Freegunner crews. With 16 class-based characters, each with unique abilities and gear, the game draws comparisons to Overwatch but offers a distinct gameplay experience with gear effects that can impact rounds – such as traps, lane-blockers, and shield barriers.

The game also focuses on storytelling within the gameplay, with weekly cinematic vignettes enhancing character development and world-building beyond traditional genre conventions.
