ChatGPT for Mac is now available to all

Mac users now have easier access to ChatGPT, OpenAI’s popular AI chatbot. The company announced that the app is available for all macOS users, following its initial announcement at Apple’s WWDC 2024 event in June. This integration allows users to interact with ChatGPT on their Mac computers, iPhones, and iPads.

On macOS, users can quickly launch ChatGPT by pressing Option + Space after installing the app. This keyboard shortcut makes accessing the chatbot a seamless experience for Mac users familiar with shortcuts like Command + Space for Spotlight Search.

The macOS app launch coincided with the unveiling of GPT-4o, OpenAI’s advanced generative AI model. GPT-4o offers enhanced capabilities, including text, speech, and video processing, making it a versatile tool for users.

ChatGPT’s desktop app, available for both free and paid users, offers features like screenshot capture, file uploads, and past conversation search. The app’s accessibility has expanded to all Mac users, following an initial rollout to Plus subscribers.

In addition to macOS integration, OpenAI and Apple announced broader collaboration at WWDC. Apple customers will soon access ChatGPT on their iPhones and iPads, enabling interactions through Siri and Writing Tools. These integrations leverage GPT-4o’s capabilities and will be part of Apple’s upcoming operating system updates.
