Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy announced on June 24 that Ukraine has targeted over 30 Russian oil processing and storage facilities. The Ukrainian military has intensified its attacks on Russian oil infrastructure this year in an effort to disrupt oil supplies to the Russian army and diminish Moscow’s revenues for funding its war against Ukraine.

“More than 30 oil refineries, terminals, and oil depots of the terrorist state have been targeted,” stated Mr. Zelenskyy to officers of Special Operations Centre “A” of the State Security Service (SBU) involved in the attacks. He did not provide further specifics or a specific timeframe. A video of his statement was shared on his X account.

Ukraine has been utilizing its long-range drones, developed by both military intelligence and the SBU, for these targeted strikes.

“For SBU drones, a distance of 1,500 km is no longer a challenge,” remarked Mr. Zelenskyy, likely referring to a strike on May 9 when a significant oil processing plant in the Bashkiria region was hit.

In the most recent attack on June 21, drones struck four refineries, including the Ilsky refinery, a key fuel producer in southern Russia.
