Apple’s teams are constantly working on innovative projects and filing new patents. A recent patent covers a concept for a new iPhone that would allow you to replace the standard back panel with something else, adding modularization to the iPhone.

The “supplemental housing component” could include extra batteries, health-monitoring devices, cameras, auxiliary speakers, and more, according to the patent.

While various companies have tried modularization, Apple’s vision goes beyond what others have done, offering groundbreaking possibilities.

Imagine attaching a blood sugar meter for diabetics or upgrading the camera system for photographers. Other options include third-party speakers, a rear flashlight, and more.

While Apple files many patents, not all materialize as products. Nevertheless, the possibilities are exciting.

An iPhone that can repair itself better is appealing, and the idea of adding a glucose meter for diabetics is incredible. Maybe in the future, on the iPhone 23 Pro Max Ultra.
