Discord, a popular online chat platform, is now being closely integrated into the PlayStation 5 system software. This integration allows users to join Discord voice chats directly from their consoles without the need for mobile or PC apps. The rollout of this functionality will occur region-by-region over the next few weeks.

The integration is starting in Japan/Asia, followed by Europe, Australia/New Zealand, the Middle East, and then the Americas. To access this feature, users must have the latest PS5 system software installed and link their PSN and Discord accounts.

Once enabled, Discord will be accessible within the Game Base area of the PS5 system software. Users will be able to see established voice chat channels on servers they are part of, allowing them to join chats easily. Additionally, users can have direct person-to-person voice chats.

This integration simplifies the previous process, where users had to send voice chats to the console from their smartphones or PC apps. The previous form of PS5 Discord integration has been available since March.

With this integration, PS5 gamers will now have the same capabilities as Xbox gamers, who have had direct Discord access since late 2022.

Discord has become a popular chat platform for gamers, and its integration across all platforms is beneficial for cross-platform online gaming. Users can also use Discord to hang out and chat with friends while gaming or relaxing.
