Helldivers 2’s enemy squids are headed to Super Earth, so now you can tinker with your guns more
Helldivers 2, a co-op shooter game, introduced its third enemy faction, the Illuminate, in December. The alien squids are now advancing towards Super Earth, posing a new threat to democracy. To combat this, developers Arrowhead have introduced new ways for soldiers to customize their weaponry.
The latest update includes weapon customization for all primary weapons, allowing players to unlock attachments and skins by completing missions and using in-game currency. According to the PlayStation blog, players can adjust sights for precision, change color patterns, optimize ammo capacity, enhance weapon performance characteristics, and customize under-barrel attachments to suit their preferred handling on the battlefield.
These customizable weapons are designed to counter the Illuminate threat, which is accompanied by new enemy types such as “the Stingray,” a flying enemy capable of strafing runs on Helldivers; “the Crescent Overseer,” which can drop explosives on players behind cover; and the Fleshmob, a formidable enemy composed of various parts that players must work together to defeat.
The in-game store has been updated to offer items permanently, rather than on a rotating time-limited basis. This change allows players to acquire previously missed items like the fascist dandy cape without the fear of missing out. It’s a positive move to eliminate FOMO tactics.
