Genshin Impact players in the US will have to verify their accounts or face suspension

MiHoYo has announced that US-based players of Genshin Impact will need to verify their accounts to confirm their ages, in order to comply with US laws. The verification process will begin on May 20th and players will have until July 18th to complete it. Failure to verify accounts will result in suspension, with personal information being deleted next year. The full statement from MiHoYo can be found below.

Dear Travelers，

We are required by law to verify the ages of US player accounts. The age verification process will be implemented for all US players by May 20th during login (for existing accounts) or account registration. Please make sure to provide your age information by July 18th, 2025. Failure to verify will lead to:

• Account suspension
• Deletion of in-game friends and chat records
• No further notifications after suspension due to inaccessible account information as mandated by law

If verification is not completed by July 20th, 2026, the personal information on your HoYoverse account will be permanently deleted.

There has been no similar announcement regarding MiHoYo’s Zenless Zone Zero or Honkai Star Rail. The specific US law has not been specified by the studio, and there are various age verification laws across the country that differ from state to state.
