Honor 200 Pro Review vs Honor Magic 6 Pro
Last month, Honor announced the new Honor 200 series in China and launched it globally at an event in Paris. Two models have been released: the standard Honor 200 and the Honor 200 Pro. Both models share similar hardware specifications, including 6.7-inch OLED displays with FHD+ resolution and a 120Hz refresh rate, 50MP primary and portrait cameras, and a 5,200mAh battery with 100W wired charging.
The Honor 200 Pro features a superior Snapdragon 8s Gen 3 chipset and 66W wireless charging, while the standard Honor 200 opts for the Snapdragon 7 Gen 3 chip and does not have wireless charging. The Pro model also includes a dedicated Honor C1+ chip for enhanced wireless and cellular connectivity.
In terms of camera specifications, the Honor 200 Pro uses a custom H9000 sensor, which is a 50MP 1/1.3″ shooter based on the Omnivision OV50H, similar to the main camera on the Magic6 Pro. The Honor 200, on the other hand, uses the more common Sony IMX906 main sensor with f/1.95 aperture and OIS.
Having used the Honor 200 Pro for a week, I have been impressed with its performance. While both models are categorized as mid-range phones, the Honor 200 Pro can easily be mistaken for a flagship device.
The design of the Honor 200 Pro features a sleek and modern look with a 6.78-inch Quad Curved Floating Display. The phone is available in three color options: Moonlight White, Ocean Cyan, and Black.
In terms of biometrics, the Honor 200 Pro includes facial recognition and an in-display fingerprint sensor for secure unlocking. The camera setup includes a 50MP Portrait Main Camera, a 50MP Telephoto Camera, a 50MP Portrait Selfie Camera, and a 12MP Ultra-wide & Macro camera.
The Snapdragon 8s Gen 3 chipset in the Honor 200 Pro provides excellent performance for day-to-day use and gaming. The phone also features a large vapor chamber for efficient cooling during extended use.
The Honor 200 Pro is equipped with a large 5200mAh battery that supports 100W wired charging and 66W wireless charging. The phone runs on MagicOS 8 based on Android 14, offering a smooth and efficient user experience.
While the pricing for the Honor 200 Pro has not been announced for the UK or EU markets, the phone offers a compelling alternative to pricier flagships with its excellent performance and features at a competitive price point.
Overall, the Honor 200 Pro is a top-tier mid-range phone that delivers exceptional performance and features at a more affordable price point. It retains many of the key highlights of the flagship Magic 6 Pro while offering strategic downgrades to lower the cost.
