Anysphere, the creator of the AI-powered coding tool Cursor, has secured $900 million in a recent funding round led by Thrive Capital, as reported by The Financial Times, citing sources familiar with the deal.

Andreessen Horowitz (a16z) and Accel are also joining the round, which values Anysphere at approximately $9 billion, according to the report.

In December, DailyTech reported that Cursor raised $105 million from Thrive and a16z at a valuation of $2.5 billion. Thrive Capital led that round, with a16z participating. To date, the startup has raised over $173 million in funding, according to Crunchbase data.

Index Ventures and Benchmark, among other investors, are reportedly eager to support the company. Anysphere’s existing investors are also keen not to miss out on the opportunity to back it further.

Investor interest in other AI-powered coding startups is also on the rise. DailyTech reported in February that Windsurf, a competitor to Anysphere, was in talks to raise funds at a valuation of $3 billion. OpenAI, an investor in Anysphere, was allegedly looking to acquire Windsurf for a similar value.
