Race Across the World Series 5 Elimination Prediction: Three Clues

After an eventful journey through China, Race Across the World is reaching a critical point, with one team facing elimination next week.
As per the show’s format, the team arriving last at the next checkpoint will be sent home. The recent turbulent weather conditions at the second checkpoint have created challenges for the remaining teams.
The BBC has not disclosed which team will be eliminated, leaving viewers in suspense until episode three airs on Wednesday, 7 May. However, there are clear signs pointing towards the likely elimination of a certain team.
Typhoon trouble
Three teams successfully reached checkpoint two in Sanya – sisters Elizabeth and Letitia, brothers Brian and Melvyn, and the young couple Fin and Sioned.
However, two teams are still behind – mother and son, Caroline and Tom, and former couple Gaz and Yin. Unfortunately, Gaz and Yin are in a much worse position compared to Caroline and Tom.
Caroline and Tom have reached the island of Hainan and are preparing to continue their journey. On the other hand, Gaz and Yin are stuck on the mainland, unable to move forward due to transportation issues.
Unless Caroline and Tom encounter obstacles on the island, it seems unlikely that Gaz and Yin will catch up. The gap between them and the leading teams will only widen, showcasing the unpredictability of Race Across the World.
The trailers tell all
By analyzing the trailers from the end of episode 1, it appears that Gaz and Yin might not progress further in the race. The footage hints at the locations of other teams such as India and Nepal, but Gaz and Yin are not clearly shown in any of these places.
Further scenes from the trailers suggest the possible destinations of each team, raising doubts about Gaz and Yin’s chances of moving forward in the competition.
Their backstory has already been told
Unlike some other teams, Gaz and Yin have already shared emotional aspects of their backstory during the show. Their unique bond as a divorced couple facing challenges together has been highlighted, adding depth to their journey.
Given the emotional storytelling pattern of the series, it is likely that Gaz and Yin’s storyline will be resolved soon, potentially indicating their departure from the race.
Race Across the World series 5 will continue next Wednesday at 9pm BST on BBC One and BBC iPlayer.
