Star Trucker delivers its chill mix of Euro Truck Simulator and Freelancer onto Steam and Game Pass this September

Rebel Galaxy paved the way for sci-fi trading and exploration games almost a decade ago, following in the footsteps of Freelancer. Now, a new game called Star Trucker seems to capture the essence of serene galaxy-venturing vibes. This game takes the A-to-Z courier journeys of Euro Truck Simulator and transports them to the interplanetary roads of space. Set to release this September, Star Trucker promises a wonderful experience.

In contrast to Rebel Galaxy and Freelancer, Star Trucker maintains a peaceful galaxy, eliminating combat threats to focus solely on delivering cargo to its destination.

However, that doesn’t mean there won’t be any excitement. The intense heat and light from nearby suns may require you to lower the cab’s windscreen shield. Collisions and harsh space conditions could lead to damage, prompting you to put on a spacesuit for repairs or risk being stranded in space. In addition to delivering cargo for profit, unlocking new jobs, and upgrading your vehicle, you can also engage in selling goods or even contraband for extra income.

Star Trucker offers a laid-back gaming experience where you can plan your route, turn on the radio, and embark on your rocket-powered trucking journey through space. The radio provides a mix of Americana genres such as “starburst blues, galactic rock, and asteroid-infused americana.” You can also communicate with other space truckers through the CB radio for gossip, docking requests, or emergency assistance.

Alice B (RPS in Peace) was impressed by Star Trucker’s simulation elements during her EGX experience, highlighting features like a glove compartment and a call sign for the CB radio.

If you’re curious, there’s a demo of Star Trucker available on Steam for a sneak peek before its official release on September 3rd. Additionally, the game will be available on Game Pass on launch day, allowing players to try it out for free.
