NASA's next ISS spacewalk has an unusual objective

NASA Live: Official Stream of NASA TV

On Thursday, June 13, NASA astronauts Tracy C. Dyson and Matt Dominick will embark on a unique spacewalk at the International Space Station (ISS) to investigate the presence of living organisms on the station’s exterior. This research aims to study the ability of microorganisms to survive and reproduce in space.

The spacewalk will also involve the removal of a faulty electronics box from a communications antenna on the starboard truss of the ISS. This will be U.S. spacewalk 90, the fourth for Dyson and the first for Dominick.

NASA will provide a live stream of the preparations and the spacewalk itself starting at 6:30 a.m. ET, with the spacewalk scheduled to begin at 8 a.m. Viewers can tune in on NASA+, NASA Television, the NASA app, YouTube, and NASA’s website.

The spacewalk is expected to last about six-and-a-half hours, offering plenty of opportunities for viewers to follow the mission. If you miss this one, there are two more spacewalks scheduled for Monday, June 24, and Tuesday, July 2.
