Patapon 1+2 Replay is marching onto Nintendo Switch, PS5 & PC this summer

The beloved rhythm-based games of Patapon are making a comeback with Patapon 1+2 Replay, set to be remastered for Nintendo Switch, PS5, and PC on July 11th.
Exciting news for fans of these cult classics, but with a twist. Bandai Namco, not Sony, will be publishing these PlayStation Portable gems on the Switch. The remasters are being developed by SAS Co. Ltd, a company that currently has limited information available.
Combining the first two games into one bundle, players will take on the role of a god overseeing the Patapon tribe. The goal is to guide them back to their homeland by issuing commands through rhythmic drum beats, such as march, attack, and defend. With the ability to unlock and command different units, players will face challenges like battling monsters and conquering enemy fortresses. By staying on beat with button presses, players can trigger a FEVER! and enhance their army’s abilities.
New features in this remastered collection include difficulty settings, button timing adjustments to address input lag, and a constant command display for easier gameplay.
Originally developed by Japan Studio, which has since been closed by Sony, these games were a staple in the PSP library. Sony released remasters of the original in 2017 and the sequel in 2020 for PS4. However, the true essence of the game shines on a handheld device.
“As special as it was ten years ago,” Dom mentioned in our 2017 review, “Patapon Remastered is a glorious example of when art, music, and gameplay come together to create something truly captivating.”
With hopes that the Replay bundle will give the second game the attention it deserves, Patapon fans can also look forward to Ratatan, a new project by the original creators set to release later this year.
