Pebble creator unveils two new Pebble-inspired smartwatches

Introducing the Core 2 Duo and Core Time 2 smartwatches, the spiritual successors to the Pebble smartwatches created by Eric Migicovsky. These new devices are available for pre-order at $149 and $225 respectively.

Pebble, a pioneer in smartwatches, was acquired by Fitbit after achieving success on Kickstarter in 2012. Now, in 2024, Migicovsky is bringing back the Pebble spirit with Core Devices, unveiling smartwatches that run on PebbleOS.

The Core 2 Duo features an E Ink display and classic Pebble design, offering up to 30 days of battery life. It connects to your phone via Bluetooth for notifications and music control.

Core Devices aims to provide a fun and hackable experience with thousands of watchfaces and app possibilities. The company emphasizes that this project is a labor of love, promising an awesome and enjoyable user experience.

The Core Time 2 shares similar specs with the Core 2 Duo but boasts a larger, 64-color touch display in a metal casing. Shipments for the Core 2 Duo are expected to start in July, while the Core Time 2 will be available in December.
