Konami has officially unveiled Silent Hill F, a fresh take on the iconic franchise that shifts the setting from a remote American town to 1960’s Japan, where players will experience “beauty in terror”. This new direction is reflected in the visuals, as the decaying industrial look of previous games is replaced by a haunting red, flowery growth that spreads throughout the town.

“In the remote mountain town of Ebisugaoka, teenager Shimizu Hinako leads a seemingly normal life—until a thick fog descends, turning her familiar surroundings into a desolate and terrifying place. With the town appearing abandoned and a mysterious, creeping menace lurking in the mist, Hinako must navigate the spectral remnants of her past, solve intricate puzzles, and confront horrifying entities in order to survive.”

Faced with harrowing decisions, she must ultimately decide between beauty and madness, facing the horrors concealed within the fog.

The compelling narrative has been crafted by Ryukishi07, known for his work on Higurashi When They Cry and Umineko When They Cry.

“I vividly remember my initial encounter with the suffocating and oppressive atmosphere of SILENT HILL,” he expressed. “It continues to haunt me deeply and captivate me entirely. It’s a privilege to be involved with a series that holds so many memories for me. I have poured my heart and soul into this story, to the extent that I wouldn’t mind if it were the last thing I ever wrote.”

“For me, the SILENT HILL series is more than just a collection of stories, it’s a medium; an extraordinary, incredible way to delve into and experience a person’s innermost thoughts and emotions. My hope is that players will come to appreciate it in the same way. To all our international friends, I hope you enjoy a glimpse of what SILENT HILL could be like if set in a slightly different location, such as Japan.”
