GTA 6 developers buy L.A. Noire director’s studio, rename it Rockstar Australia
Rockstar Games, the developers behind GTA 6, have officially acquired Video Games Deluxe, a Sydney-based team known for their collaboration on various projects including the re-release of L.A. Noire, L.A. Noire: The VR Case Files, and recent updates for Grand Theft Auto: The Trilogy – The Definitive Edition. The studio will now operate under the name Rockstar Australia.
Video Games Deluxe was founded by Brendan McNamara in 2013, who was also the founder of Team Bondi, the original developers of L.A. Noire. After some controversial issues with Team Bondi, McNamara and other former L.A. Noire developers came together to work on a new project called Whore Of The Orient at KMM Interactive Entertainment, which unfortunately got shut down later on.
Rockstar Games has expressed their excitement about the acquisition, with McNamara stating, “It’s been an honor to work closely with Rockstar Games this past decade. We are thrilled to be a part of Rockstar Games and to continue our efforts to make the best games possible.”
